Available Benefit Options
The HCS Employee Benefits Summary is an outline of all voluntary benefits options through State Health and GA Breeze and the involuntary benefits provided to all full time employees with Principal. This link is for plan year 2024.

Hapeville Charter Schools provides qualified employees with multiple benefit options.
Voluntary Benefits: State Health Benefits Plan and GA Breeze
HCS uses two state agencies to provide voluntary medical and flexible benefits:
State Health Benefits Plan (SHBP): Medical and Prescription coverage through
GA Breeze: Flexible Benefits coverage includes dental, vision, life insurance*, disability coverage*, and more.
Involuntary Benefits: Principal
Involuntary benefits are provided to all qualified HCS employees at no cost. Enrollment is automatic and begin the first day of employment.
Includes: Short Term and Long Term Disability, $50,000 Life Insurance, and $50,000 accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
Also include is the HCS Employee Assistance Program, you AND your family have access to free, confidential resources to help handle life’s everyday, and not so everyday, challenges. Includes resources to help with stress management, relationship issues, work life balance, and more. This is a free service that you can access by click on the EAP link on the right hand side.
Enrollment Windows (SHBP and GA Breeze Only)
New Employee Enrollment: will be able to enroll into their SHBP and GA Breeze benefits within the first 30 calendar days from the date of employment. The benefits selected during new employee enrollment will begin the first day of the month after the employee’s first full calendar month of employments, and will continue through the rest of the plan year ending December 31st of that year.
Open/Annual Enrollment: each year all eligible employees will be able to make their benefit selections for the next plan year (January 1 - December 31) during SHBP’s Open Enrollment and GA Breeze’s Annual Enrollment periods. Typically the Open/Annual Enrollment periods begin mid October of each year.
Qualifying Events (mid-year changes): eligible employees who have specific life changing events during the middle of a plan year, can make changes to their SHBP and/or GA Breeze coverages during a Qualifying Event Enrollment period. Employees typically have 31 days from the life change date to begin the Qualifying Event process.
