New Employee Enrollment Information

Additional Information For New Employees

  • New employees have 30 calendar days from the first date of employment to enroll into both State Health Benefits Plan (SHBP) and GA Breeze benefits

  • First date of coverage will be the first of the month after a new employee has worked one full calendar month

    • Example 1:

      • If you begin work on the 1st calendar day or the 1st “business day” of the month your benefits will begin on the first day of the next month

        • Your first workday is the September 1st, so your benefit coverages will begin October 1st

        • Your first workday is Monday, September 2nd (September 1 was on a weekend), so your benefit coverages will be begin October 1st

    • Example 2:

      • If you begin work on any other day other than the 1st business day of the month your benefits will begin on the first day of month after you have work a full calendar month.

        • Your first workday is Tuesday, September 2nd your benefit coverages will begin October 1st

        • Your first workday is Monday, September 28th your benefits coverages will begin October 1st

        • In these examples your first full calendar month of work would be the month of September
